Community Garden

The interpretation program of the Red Hill Valley includes the implementation of a community garden. The intention of the community garden was to bring together two communities through sustainable means. The garden would reflect the traditional sustainable practices of the Haudenosaunee; it would provide a cultural component, open artistry, and sustainable workshops.  A Saturday farmers market would bring together fresh food from the garden, artisan booths, and cultural events.

The community garden is intended to emphasize cultural awareness and sustainability. Workshops that highlight Haudenosaunee and other cultural sustainability practices would educate the public on the importance of healthy ecological practices. The garden would also incorporate the Haudenosaunee languages on signs to label food.
